New Season of Drag Queen Story Hour Events featuring Bella da Ball begins this Month.

For the third season, the Palm Springs Public Library will feature Drag Queen Story Hour featuring local diva Bella da Ball every other month beginning on Tuesday, September 10 in the Youth Room. Each evening will start with a craft, followed by stories and then dancing but we will also mix it up with an occasional special guest and other surprises, kids of all ages are invited to attend!

“This is an all-inclusive evening for everyone to come to the library and have a good time enjoying great stories and fun crafts, said Jeannie Kays, Director of Library Services, we celebrate all types of families and we want everyone to feel welcome at the library”.

Founded by Michelle Tea and RADAR Productions out of San Francisco, Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like—drag queens reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and bookstores.

DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. Hosted at libraries across the country, from New York to Los Angeles, and Palm Springs!

Bella da Ball is the Palm Springs’ area social ambassador and drag personality. Bella da Ball is very active in the community and has been recognized by many different organizations and has received numerous awards and honors, including being the recipient of a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.

Plus, the Safe Schools Desert Cities Champion for Youth Award for LBGTQIA, Volunteer of the Year from Greater Palm Springs Pride, the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce P.S. I Love You award and was the inaugural “Community Sweetheart” at the Palm Springs 25th Festival of Lights parade.
