In the past ten years I’ve read perhaps a hundred books, but only two were fiction.

 

One was Dan Brown’s The DaVinci Code and the second was Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol.

 

Perhaps not great literature, but I like the way Dan weaves fact in with his fiction.

 

Much of what is found in The DaVinci Code comes from a book I read in the mid-eighties,

Holy Blood Holy Grail. This book was read by millions of people, but because Dan was

able to re-package the information as a fictional mystery drama, it was read by hundreds

of millions. 

 

One could argue the accuracy of the information as well as the conclusions

drawn, but at least it got this otherwise obscure information out there to the whole

world and most importantly got them thinking.

 

The same is true of Dan’s latest work The Lost Symbol. The information contained in

The Lost Symbol is a body of work I have been studying for the last couple decades -

the new emerging paradigm where spirituality, the mind and science meet. 

 

At the forefront of this research is the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), mentioned in The

Lost Symbol, started in 1973 by scientist and astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell. The stated

mission of the institute is: “Advancing the science of consciousness and human experience

to serve individual and collective transformation.”

In The Lost Symbol, accompanying our familiar protagonist Robert Langdon is Dr. Katherine

Solomon, a Noetic Scientist. She performs experiments in her secret laboratory exploring

the leading edge of consciousness research. 

 

All of these “fictional” experiments are in fact actual experiments performed by dozens of scientists over the last century or so. 

They show conclusive evidence for the power of the mind and the existence and continuation of

consciousness beyond the confines of the brain and human body.

 

That is the purpose for this blog… an exploration of the mind, body and spirit for the

empowerment of the individual (that’s you!). We create the circumstances of our lives

on a daily basis…but most of us do this “unconsciously.” 

 

“Conscious Living” is about understanding the power of our subconscious mind and harnessing universal principals like The Law of Attraction so we can create the circumstances of our lives each day on purpose, rather than by default.
