“Fire Island,” the upcoming reality series that sparked thinkpieces and a “Saturday Night Life” parody, finally has a premiere date.
In a press release, Logo announced the show will debut on Thursday, April 27 at 8 p.m EST.
“Fire Island,” which basically looks like “The Real World” but cast with all gay men, will follow “a group of young professionals living together in a beachfront share house for the summer as they search for the romance, temptation and thrills that have brought the LGBTQ community to the island for decades.”
The show will be centered on six gay men: Khasan, Jorge, Brandon, Cheyenne, Justin and Patrick.
The trailer for “Fire Island” caused a lot of online discussion about LGBTQ representation and diversity. It also sparked two thinkpieces, one that came for the reality show and another that somewhat defended it. “Fire Island” was then spoofed on the latest episode of “SNL,” hosted by Scarlett Johansson. Instead of following a group of attractive gay men, the skit replaced them with lesbian moms.
