GLAAD MEDIA AWARDS

“The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives. They also fund GLAAD’s work to amplify stories from the LGBTQ community that build support for equality.” This year marks the 28th annual ceremony for the organization and nominees run the gamut in the media world, from films such as Moonlight and Star Trek Beyond to television’s Transparent, The Real O’Neals, Grey’s Anatomy, Black-ish, Grace and Frankie as well as Modern Family, along with many other categories, including news media, artists and programming. ““For nearly 30 years, the GLAAD Media Awards have set the bar for media representations of LGBTQ people,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “At a time when progress is at a critical juncture, it is imperative that Hollywood tell more LGBTQ stories that reflect the community’s rich diversity.” The GLAAD Media Awards takes place at the Beverly Hilton, 9876 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills on Saturday, April 1.

GMCLA HE HAD IT COMING

“He had it coming, he had it coming. He only had himself to blame. If you’d have been there, if you’d have seen it, I betcha you would have done the same…” Leaves the door pretty wide open, now doesn’t it? The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) invites you to discover the answer, as they walk down one very famous lane and probe the Great White Way’s biggest hits and hidden gems. “From classics of the Golden Age to today’s Tony award-winners, experience the dazzle, flair and savoir faire that only a group of over 250 gay men can deliver!” “He Had It Coming” is one of said classic tunes, taken from the Tony Award-winning show Chicago and the chosen title GMCLA has proffered to represent their raucous romp through timeless classics you know and love (and probably some you don’t…Know, that is). The show takes place on Saturday and Sunday, April 1 and 2 at the beautiful Alex Theatre in Glendale. The added bonus? During the evening’s fun Broadway, television and film star, Alan Cumming, will be on hand to share his extraordinary talents live on stage with the men of GMCLA (Look for our February 2016 interview with him online at ragemonthly.com)!
