Each year a group of drag queens, kings, sisters, fairies, leather folks, city officials, bunnies and just plain fun-loving people, gather to raise much needed funds for the C.A.R.E. Program at St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach.

100 percent of the funds raised are given directly to the cause, with local businesses and supporting sponsors providing free printing and publicity.

Hundreds of volunteer hours are put into organizing and producing the walk each year, so come and “step up.”

Several years ago the walk administration was carried on by Long Beach Drag Diva Jewels, taking over for event founder Rick White aka Sheeya Mann, after she moved away from the city.

The Easter Hat and Heels Walk kicks off at noon starting at Hamburger Mary’s Long Beach on Easter Sunday, March 31.

The walk continues throughout the day along Broadway, with stops at Broadway Cocktails, Sweetwater Saloon, The Falcon, Mineshaft, The Brit, and Paradise to sell eggs, raffle tickets and to collect donations.

To add to the fun, a show will take place at The Falcon at 3 p.m. and festivities will conclude with a huge celebration party at the Silver Fox starting at 6 p.m.
