Long Beach, California – In response to community interest, The Center Long Beach and The LA Gay & Lesbian Center have partnered to host a free half-day symposium for LGBT prospective parents on February 9 at The Center Long Beach.
The half-day symposium will feature six workshops, resource tabling, and a panel of LGBT parents describing their various experiences growing their families.
Workshop topics include public and private adoption, the legalities of LGBT parenting in California, donor insemination and surrogacy, and parenting special needs children. Breakfast and lunch will be provided by ChildNet Youth and Family Services and Christ Chapel of Long Beach.
“This is a great opportunity for LGBT couples and singles interested in learning more about growing their families” states Porter Gilberg, Administrative Director at The Center Long Beach. “There are so many LGBT affirming agencies out there to support our community as we establish our own modern families and we are so excited to partner with the LA Center to welcome these agencies and the community to our upcoming symposium.”
In addition to seminars, attendees will have the chance to meet representatives from a number of local agencies who provide private and public adoptions, insemination and surrogacy services, legal support, OB/GYN services, and LGBT family advocacy.
This event is free and open to the public. The symposium is scheduled from 8:30am to 1:00pm at The Center Long Beach (2017 East 4th Street Long Beach, CA 90814). For more information or to RSVP contact Gilberg at (562) 434-4455 ext. 245.
