‘AMAZING RACE’ Cast Sends Messages of Love to Anti-Gay Bullied Middle Schooler Thanks to Quick Action by Winning Team: THE BEEKMAN BOYS
When the Beekman Boys won The Amazing Race, they were inundated with congratulations…but one particular note stuck out to them from a mother of a 12 year old boy who has been wrestling with feeling like an underdog, misunderstood and bullied.
So moved by the note from Colin’s mother, Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge (Team Beekman) asked the entire Amazing Race cast to submit images of support for the boy and a dedicated blog post showing their love and support for Colin.
A devoted page post on the Beekman’s website is now live and the images from the entire Amazing Race cast showing their love and support for Colin are available at http://beekman1802.com/colin-youre-amazing/.
Colin and his mother are seeing these for the first time today, too.
Colin’s mother wrote “I’m sure you guys are way too busy to read this, but I want you to know how inspirational you two are to my 12 year old son. He is gay and is dealing with bullying and harassment in middle school. It’s so hard to see him going through this, and sometimes the “It Gets Better” message is lost on a 12 year old who feels that middle school will never end…We cheered you on every Sunday night and agonized every time you had difficulties. My son was so incredibly thrilled when you two won last night (as was I!). Thank you for helping him see that not only DOES it get better, it gets AMAZING.”
